Road closure in Great Lever as TV crews film new BBC drama

A road closure will be in place in Great Lever as location filming takes place.

Asher Street will be closed for approximately five days from October 5 as BBC Ones new drama Sherwood is back in town filming.

An area of the road will be closed off for lighting purposes whilst Ellesmere Road Recreation Club will be used as part of the filming and the carpark will be used for the tech team.

Sherwood, is a drama set in a Nottinghamshire mining village and is inspired in parts by real events. According to the BBC synopsis, it’s a “contemporary drama at the heart of which lie two shocking and unexpected killings that shatter an already fractured community and spark a massive manhunt.”

The series will include Walking Dead’s actor David Morrissey, Downtown Abbey star Joanne Froggatt and Law & Order actor Robert Glenister.

The council apologises for any inconvenience the road closures may cause and ask residents to present their waste and recycling bins, that are due to be emptied, at the nearest accessible point.

This will ensure that bins can be emptied on their usual collection days.
