Sandusky Police officers responded to the home of Mouheb Ashakih on Saturday evening around 7 p.m. after a neighbour called about a pitbull being locked in her car.

The neighbour told authorities he had seen Ashakih throw the dog, Chapo, in the backseat and close all the doors and windows.

He approached the car, saw that the dog was trying to escape, and told Ashakih to let the dog out because he was concerned for his safety, to which she allegedly replied, “I don’t care. I want him to die!,” according to the police report.

About 30 minutes went by before police arrived to rescue the dog, but they saw that Chapo “either passed out or deceased at the rear passenger side floorboard,” states the police report.

Officers broke the rear window of the vehicle and attempted to revive the dog, but were unsuccessful.

The report notes that the temperature inside the car when the window was broken was “considerably more hot than the temperature outside,” which, at the time, was 27°C.

Ashakih allegedly told officers she put the dog inside the car because it attacked one of her other dogs, said police.

According to the report, Ashaikih repeatedly said she loves animals but gave consent to officials to remove four dogs from her home.

Two-year-old Blanca and six-month-old puppies Mono, Chappie and Niko â€" all pitbulls â€" are now in the care of the department’s dog warden.

The 58-year-old has been charged with felony animal cruelty.

She was being held in Erie County Jail without bond.
